I was in Allepey for a friend's wedding and booked a room at Kovilakam resort. Spoke to Leela [ btw she is just an SMS away] who organised pick up and drop to/from the station, and kept in touch through my stay, checking in to make sure all was ok. Infact, I checked in sunday morning 6am and checked out sunday evening 8.30pm, which was something she organised for me [ breaking the 12noon to 12noon checkout they typically follow]. I was the only one at the property, and that added to the experience, it was absolutely bliss walking around the property, and just lazing about. Food was good, service was prompt and room was beautiful, not to forget the views you get as you step outside the building... Uff, breathtaking... What more does one need, right? Next time around, I shall try the houseboat and other services they offer. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone heading to Allepey, but will advice that you organise a vehicle if you wish to do some sight seeing. The property is a good 5-6kms from civilisation, and you wont find autos or any other vehicles from here. Infact, there is no uber/ola service as well. As for the tariff, it is on the higher side, but well, it is worth it..

Stayed here with friends and family for 2 days. Wonderful place with big open spaces and super view of backwaters. Rooms were also very well maintained. Food was prepared as per choice. This place definitely deserved higher ratings. Big thumps up!

We had a family gathering of more than 300 relatives celebrating one of our cousin sister's 50th anniversary as a nun! The place is so scenic and peaceful that you think you are in God's own country! They will cook what ever your requests for! And the food was delicious and authentic kerala cuisine.

Truely a magical place. Never expected a stay like this, a heartfilling hospitality. It was just a usal holiday trip to Kumarkom to enjoy the backwaters with my family and friends. And i was looking for some lakeside villas and for my luck Kovilakom was not occupied for that day. From that moment we were into suprises and it tunrned out to be an awesome holiday. The place is truely wonderful. As its name suggests its an old kovilkam renovated into a resort. The main Kovilakom have 2 or 3 bedrooms. But we selected the resort near to lake side to enjoy the view. Tge place is very well maintained and the staffs are really friendly and helpfull. You can really felt there love and caring mentality. The food was superb. The place is little far from city so we didn't go out for food. The resort makes excellent tasty food. Luckly that day we are the only guests so we have an opertunity to explore the resort fully. The big Vembanattu Lake was infront of us and the view was excellent. The garden and tge lawn was very well maintained. You can smell some history and old kerala traditions there. For us it became a home away from home. Truely wonderful place. The rooms are well equipped and neat. Enough parking space and good security. You will enjoy the stay.. the best place to visit in Kumarkom.

We recently chanced upon this amazing hidden jewel and can’t be more thankful. This should be on the top of the best resorts to stay at Allepey! We visited in mid November and had the entire resorts to us( We were a group of 15 people that included little kids) We simply were blown away by the beautiful resorts, The amazing sunrise we got to witness there every morning, tea and coffee that arrived piping hot in a timely fashion, fishing in the backwaters, playing games in their lovely premises, lying on the Julas enjoying the breezy nights and just spending quality time with family with utmost privacy! The resorts was extremely well maintained and clean. The excellent service by the manager and team there deserves special mention! Right from booking, all the way until checkout, we were given the best service ever! The owner of the resorts was very professional and friendly and gave us excellent advise on how to plan our travel there! We even had a birthday party there. The manager of the resorts, arranged for the cake and even helped decorate a corner for the party! It was like a big beautiful home away from home. We will certainly go back there again and will highly recommend this place for big groups looking for family reunions! Important pointers: - You need to give proper instructions regarding food to ensure you get good food and portions. We didn’t plan well and under ordered and had to make adjustments. - You will need to request for cabs in advance as the resorts is slightly far from the train station. We had a little bit of a hiccup trying to get a cab in the last minute and struggled to reach the train station on time. - Between 10 am and 4pm it can get quite hot even in their peak season, you can plan houseboat rides and sightseeing to avoid the heat. - Marari beach is just a few minutes away and a wonderful place to experience a glorious sunset!
